Our two rounds of golf for the event will be played on Cougar Point and The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island. Cougar Point is a Gary Player designed course and a fair test for the opening round. The Ocean Course is a great finale - it is one of four courses to have hosted each of the PGA’s major championships - the Ryder Cup and PGA Championship. The dramatic 1991 Ryder Cup known as “The War by the Shore” reinvigorated the intensity of the Ryder Cup. The Ocean Course, a Pete Dye masterpiece, is ranked #62 in the Top 100 Courses in the World. The blend of tidal marshes, scrub-topped dunes, live oaks and the soothing sound of the Atlantic on every hole make this one of the South’s most memorable playing experiences. Much more short grass has been added around the green complexes since then and now the design is more thought-provoking rather than terror-inducing. The two PGAs at The Ocean Course had two memorable winners with Rory McIlroy winning big in 2012 and Phil Mickelson becoming the oldest winner of a major at the 2021 PGA. The Ocean Course has recently been selected to host the 2031 PGA Championship.
Each Legacy Classic guest is responsible for travel to and from the event.
The closest commercial airport to Kiawah Island Golf Resort is the Charleston International Airport (CHS).
